Pyle Audio PLX42

The Pyle Audio PLX42 are a pair of 4.0” 2-way coaxial car-audio loudspeakers constructed from a Polypropylene woofer cone. The third model in the Pyle Audio Wave series, the PLX42 competes with the PLG4.2 (Gear X), PLRL42 (Red Label), and the PLS40 (Plus).

All models feature a 1” hi-temp enhanced voice coil, custom grills, a rubber boot magnet cover, and an impedance of 4 ohms. Similar to the PLRL42, the PLX42 also comes equipped with a 1” Mylar dome tweeter (versus Neodymium), but it does not include the PLS40’s film range midrange. In addition, the PLX42 maintains the PLG4’2’s 66Hz-20kHz frequency response, but is outmatched in power by all three models (120w versus 140/150w). The Pyle Audio PLX42 is priced at $27.99, the same price as the PLRL42, and $5-$10 less expensive than the PLG4.2 and PLS40.
