Polk Audio db501
Released March, 2007
The Pros:45W RMS power per speaker. Integrated high-quality tweeter (2-way speaker system). Nice replacement for 4" front door speakers as this size can still be quite easily fit into many cars.
The Cons:Metal bezel doesn't allow for custom mounting hole pattern (not all cars have a square 4-hole geometry).

Priced at $99.95, the same as the db461p, the db501 reverts to a square frame (versus the 461p’s rectangular frame), lowers its maximum frequency to 65Hz (versus 71Hz), and offers a reduced maximum power output of 135w (versus 150w). Furthermore, the Audio db501 is described by Polk as capable of fitting motorcycles (grilles and mounting hardware not included), as well as being an ‘excellent replacement’ for OEM speakers. Equipped with a .75” liquid-cooled silk/polymer composite dome tweeter with Neodymium magnets, the Polk Audio db501 is regarded as a perfect solution for consumers seeking a powerful 5” speaker for either their motorcycle, car, or boat.
