Polk Audio db501

$100.00 Released March, 2007

Product Shot 1 The Pros:45W RMS power per speaker. Integrated high-quality tweeter (2-way speaker system). Nice replacement for 4" front door speakers as this size can still be quite easily fit into many cars.

The Cons:Metal bezel doesn't allow for custom mounting hole pattern (not all cars have a square 4-hole geometry).

The Polk Audio db501 are a pair of 5” coaxial car-audio loudspeakers composed out of dynamic balance polymer/mica composites and durable rubber surrounds designed to withstand heat, moisture, and time.

Priced at $99.95, the same as the db461p, the db501 reverts to a square frame (versus the 461p’s rectangular frame), lowers its maximum frequency to 65Hz (versus 71Hz), and offers a reduced maximum power output of 135w (versus 150w). Furthermore, the Audio db501 is described by Polk as capable of fitting motorcycles (grilles and mounting hardware not included), as well as being an ‘excellent replacement’ for OEM speakers. Equipped with a .75” liquid-cooled silk/polymer composite dome tweeter with Neodymium magnets, the Polk Audio db501 is regarded as a perfect solution for consumers seeking a powerful 5” speaker for either their motorcycle, car, or boat.

dom: #polk_audio_db501 I installed these on the weekend and had no problems. They work like a charm and I like my new sound. I had Blaupunkt ~5.25" speakers installed by the factory, but one of them broke after a few years. I don't notice an improvement versus the (intact) Blaupunkt ones, but the Polks do sound great and they're matching in impedance. Jun 29, 10
