The VR690-CXi is comprised of a 6" x 9" woofer with grill, 1" dome tweeter and a built in crossover network. The 6 " x 9" woofer has a mica-filled polypropylene cone, 1.25" voice coil and butyl rubber surround. The 1" treated textile soft dome tweeter uses a neodymium magnet to keep its size at a minimum, and is ferrofluid cooled and damped within its compact housing. Unlike other coaxial speakers offered by JL Audio, the VR690-CXi does not have a segregated crossover network with multiple settings giving you less control over which frequencies are played through the woofer and tweeter. However, the lack of this extra component makes installation that much simpler and eliminates the cost of components that not everyone will utilize fully. Also unlike speakers in the VR series, there is no component version of the VR690-CXi. The 1" treated textile dome tweeter is used in all the coaxial speakers in the VR series.
