Hifonics HiFi Subwoofers
$100.00
Released January, 2007
The Pros:Loud volume output even with smaller amplifiers. Creates a strong thumping sound that you can feel. More competition sub construction details than expected from a $25 sub. 11mm xmax, stitched tensil leads, wide roll surround, dual voice coils.
The Cons:Distortion is very audible at louder volumes. Need to ensure you build a proper enclosure to get good sound from them. Magnet tends to rattle and needs re-attaching.
Hifonics HiFi Subwoofers are a set of 12” voice-coil subwoofers constructed out of an injection molded polypropylene composite. The HiFi series includes the HFi12D4 and HFi12S4. Both subwoofers offer a 600w peak power handling, 300w nominal power handling, 4 ohms impedance, and 88dB sensitivity.

They also feature 1” NBR reinforced rubber surround, poly light dust caps, a heat dispersing ported back plate, an ultra ridged chrome stamped steel basket, and a high strength ABS motor cover. The only difference between the two models is that the HFi12D4 has two voice coils, whereas the HFi12S4 has only one voice coil. The Hifonics HiFi subwoofers compete directly with the 800w TXi12D4 and TXi12S4 from the Hifonics Titan series. The HFi12D4 and HFi12S4 are priced between $99.99-$109.99, versus the $119.99-$129.99 Hifonics Titan speakers.
